Abbey Road Studios Recording

It’s been 3 years since I got to record my piece “What These Ithakas Mean”, at the world renowned Abbey Road Studios in London, UK.  It was such an honor to conduct my music in the same room where some of the most influential records were created.

The piece was inspired by the poem Ithaka, by C.P. Cavafy.  I have fond memories of my mother reciting it to me before bedtime.  The final stanza reads:

And if you find her poor, Ithaka won’t have fooled you.
Wise as you will have become, so full of experience,
you will have understood by then what these Ithakas mean.

Check out the video below from the recording of “What These Ithakas Mean” at Abbey Road Studios, featuring 51 world class musicians.  Dedicated to my family.

‘Españomics’ World Premiere @ SF Doc Fest

The documentary ‘Españomics’, written and directed by Pedro Peira, delves into the issues that affect the female Hispanic community in Southern California.  It was a real honor to create the soundtrack that accompanies the stories of these incredible women.  The premiere is taking place at the historic Roxie Theater (3117 16th St, San Francisco, CA 94103) on Friday, June 8 (7 PM).  The film screens again on Saturday June 9, 12:30pm, at the same venue.

ìjálá (dance film)

Dear friends, please check out this film featuring the incredibly talented Robyn Nisbet.  She is pushing the boundaries of expression by combining dance, martial arts and West African spiritual tradition.  I had the pleasure of writing the music for the film, a duet for classical and electric guitar.  Enjoy!

Orchestration for ‘Cliffs Of Freedom’

I recently completed working with George Kallis on his score for the drama ‘Cliffs Of Freedom’.  The film follows a love story set during the dawn of the Greek War for Independence against the Ottoman Empire in the 1820s.  As part of this project we got to record a variety of traditional instruments such as the laouto (Greek: λαούτο), a long-neck fretted instrument of the lute family, found in Greece and Cyprus.
